Perseid Meteor Shower Videos

perseids-mapPerseids, also known as the annual Perseid meteor shower, will be streaking across the sky tonight and tomorrow for those that gaze upwards to the sky to view.   The Perseid shower occurs every summer when the Earth’s orbit crosses the path of debris thrown off by Comet Swift-Tuttle.

When is the best time to watch?  In North America, the best time period to view  will be just before dawn on Wednesday 8/12/2009.  Watchers are expected to see up to one-hundred meteors per hour at the peak of Perseids activity.

Great videos. I especially like your use of music with the bottom video.

I just checked my sky (southwest British Columbia @ 2:30 am PDT) and I can also see perhaps 2 meteor trails per minute on average – this was supposed to be the 2nd peak per a NASA site.
