Fort Worth schools are investing $23 million into childrens education by installing interactive whiteboards in every classroom. Costs include training for Fort Worth teachers as well.
Fort Worth will boast the largest implementation of interactive whiteboard technology in the country. According to published reports, neighboring Dallas plans to install 1,000, and Sarasota County FL schools plan to install 3,300 of its classrooms.
Kyle Davie, Fort Worth’s chief technology officer, says “This technology is paramount in order to retain the attention of our digital natives. Digital is the way they communicate, the way they are learning. Unless we keep their attention they will shut down, unplug and disengage.”
Promethean system whiteboards includes boards, projectors, accessories, teacher training and installation.
Here is a video conducted by Tom Hopper, a social studies teacher at Chippewa Middle School, demonstrating how the interactive whiteboard works.
