Fort Worth By the Numbers

ft-worth-familyDeciding to move to a new neighborhood can be one of life’s toughest decisions. Fort Worth is a great place to live, and that makes the relocation-decision process much easier.

But it’s good to know the cold, hard facts when faced with a change of such magnitude. Here’s what you need to know:

Population*: 720,250 (Just right!)
Cowboys: 373,186
Cowgirls: 347,063 (Good news for the Cowboys!)

Everything in Texas IS Bigger*: Fort Worth is the seventeenth-largest city in the United States AND the fifth-largest in Texas.

Crime+: You won’t be needing that six-shooter. Fort Worth is the 9th safest city in the United States with populations of 500,000 or more.

It’s Not Just About the Cows in Cowtown, USA: Fort Worth enjoys a rich cultural life in the form of museums, theatres, and world-class musical venues.

Museums include the Amon Carter Museum, featuring American artists; the Kimbell Museum, which houses a collection featuring the works of a wide-range of artists, including Michelangelo, Picasso, and Rembrandt; and the National Cowgirl Museum and Hall of Fame, which honors all things Cowgirl. Little-known Cowgirl Fact from our Friends at NCM/HOF: former Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O’Connor was inducted into the Cowgirl Hall of Fame in 2002.

Forth Worth hosts the Bass Performance Hall, Casa Manana, Jubilee Theater, Circle Theatre, and Hip Pocket Theatre as well as the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra, the Texas Ballet Theater and the Fort Worth Opera.

Education: Fort Worth is served by the Fort Worth Independent School District. Fort Worth ISD has recently initiated an aggressive campaign to recruit the best and the brightest instructors from all around the U.S. K-8 grades are required to wear mandatory uniforms.

Higher education is also well-represented in Fort Worth. Nine public and private universities serve the population of Fort Worth, Texas, and the United States.

Employment: Fort Worth shares in the rosy economic outlook enjoyed by the entire state of Texas, thanks in large part to the impressive line-up of corporations that are headquartered in Fort Worth. American Airlines, Consolidated Robotics, and Pier 1 Imports are just a few of the companies that call Fort Worth home.
